FOOD DELIVERED TO PANTRY DOORS

01

Alongside our generous supporters, we’re reinventing food accessibility for allergen-avoidant communities.

02

That’s a food bank system where visits to the food pantry are worthwhile and worry-free.

03

To achieve this mission, we stock food pantry shelves and fridges with allergen-friendly foods.

04

32 million Americans have a potentially life-threatening food allergy. Your food pantry can help close socioeconomic gaps, stop the poverty cycle and create equitable access to safe food.

OUR FOOD PANTRIES.

Food pantries are community programs distributing food to people with hunger or disrupted food access. Unfortunately, many have logistical and economic challenges in accommodating visitors with food allergies and specialty diets. These are often rooted in long-standing procedures, time and budget constraints, or limited understanding of food allergy.

To break barriers to allergy-free nutrition, Securing Safe Food brings no-cost, allergen-friendly foods and education to a network of food pantries across the U.S. We partner with food pantries already knowledgeable about food allergies as well as those not familiar with medical dietary restrictions as we strive toward improved accessibility.

The top 9 food allergens are milk, egg, peanut, tree nuts, wheat, soy, fish, shellfish, and sesame. With food allergies globally on the rise, SSF relies on a network of pantries committed to serving our world's diverse dietary needs.

We work to achieve effective points of access.

Every food pantry and its community are unique, which is why we gather data on visitor dietary needs, preferences, age, ethnicity and language to disperse our resources for maximum impact.

We approach partnership with long-term sustainability in view.

We prioritize pantries concentrated with allergen-avoidant visitors or located near our medical hubs. We expect these programs will translate their experiences with SSF into long-term, allergen-friendly practices beyond our supplemental foods. This work edges us towards a safer and more inclusive food system.
