Rachel Brooks
Founder, CEO

Rachel Brooks is a writer, researcher, and food allergy advocate from CT. She is a 2021 U.S. Presidential Scholar and a freshman at Princeton University, studying English and creative writing on a pre-med track. Her medical research appears in Rheumatology (Oxford University Press). She herself is allergic to milk, egg, peanut, and tree nuts. 

Sydney Hankin
Director of Operations

Sydney Hankin is a junior in high school from New York, NY. She is allergic to uncooked eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, and sesame seeds. At Securing Safe Food, she manages day-to-day operations and assists in developing upcoming initiatives. When not working on behalf of those with food allergies, Sydney loves to write fiction and creative nonfiction, practice the piano and fiddle, or play with her Maltipoo puppy. 

 

Sara Hantgan
Director of Donor Relations

Sara Hantgan, from Westchester, NY, is a freshman at the University of Michigan, studying biology, health, and society. She is allergic to dairy, sesame, mustard, and banana. In addition to her work with the Partner Program at Securing Safe Food, she is involved in health technology and education research, and loves to cook and bake. 

Gemma Levy
Director of Communications

Gemma Levy is a junior in high school who lives in Brooklyn, NY. She is allergic to cashews and pistachios, in addition to many other fruits and vegetables. When she’s not heading SSF’s marketing initiatives, Gemma runs Moio, a charitable bracelet business, draws, runs, and bakes! 

Jacqueline See-Tho
Food Pantry Coordinator

Jacqueline See-Tho leads food pantry correspondence and delivery at SSF. She is a high school junior from Palo Alto, CA, and has lived with food allergies to eggs, milk, tree nuts, and peanuts her entire life. A clinical trial participant, she has also been undergoing multi-food OIT treatment since 2017. Some of Jacqueline’s passions include traveling, advocacy work, dance, singing, acting, and cooking/baking. 

 

Lila Hwang
Food Pantry Coordinator

Lila Hwang is a sophomore in high school from Rochester, New York, and coordinates with food pantries for SSF. She is allergic to dairy and is passionate about making healthy, allergen-free foods more accessible for all. In her spare moments, Lila enjoys dancing (including tap, ballet, and hip hop), playing tennis, or spending time with her friends (and puppies!). 

Gabriella DiGiovanni
Food Pantry Coordinator

Gabriella DiGiovanni is a high school junior from Wayne, NJ. She is allergic to some tree nuts, peanuts, and some raw fruits and vegetables. She recently started OIT treatment for walnuts, pecans, and hazelnuts. Gabriella manages food pantry coordination at SSF and loves playing soccer or listening to indie/alternative rock music in her free time. 

Allie Farrell
Food Pantry Coordinator

Allie Farrell is a high school senior from Clarks Summit, PA. She is allergic to peanuts, tree nuts, shellfish, and multiple fruits. She joined SSF to help expand the availability of safe foods to those who might not otherwise have access. When not coordinating with food pantries for SSF, Allie volunteers with youth in her local community and loves to play volleyball, dance, and practice photography.

Lizzy Anderlik
Outreach Coordinator

Lizzy Anderlik is a high school senior from Chicago, IL. She is allergic to tree nuts, peanuts, sesame seeds, and sunflower seeds. When she’s not advocating or coordinating with allergen-free food manufacturers, she enjoys baking cakes, playing the ukulele, and tumbling.

Danielle Huli
Outreach Coordinator

Danielle Huli is from Delmar, NY, and is a freshman at Northeastern University. She is only allergic to peanuts . . . but anyone with food allergies knows that’s hard enough! Besides directing SSF correspondence and manufacturer outreach, Danielle loves to practice tennis, read books, listen to music and compile playlists, and play piano.
